2016 NCAA Selections Held in Istanbul
The 2016 Istanbul drafts of the American College Basketball League NCAA, which took place in Istanbul, ended magnificently with the participation of 250 athletes at the FMV Işık Schools Ayazağa Campus on Saturday and Sunday.
In the 2016 NCAA Showcase Istanbul event, which was broadcast live for 2 days on TBF TV, the official broadcaster of the Turkish Basketball Federation, and watched live by a total of 6,000 unique visitors in 2 days, a total of 250 athletes from Turkey and Europe competed fiercely to realize their dream of a sports scholarship in the USA.
Turkish coaches, as well as observers of the elite teams of the NCAA, showed great interest in the 2016 NCAA Showcase Istanbul event, which opened the doors of the United States wide to basketball players between the ages of 15-21 and is the only officially certified selection of the American Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in Europe.
The NCAA Showcase organization, which was held for the second time this year with intense athlete participation, will be held once again in Izmir in July for male and female athletes.
The application process, which lasted for 2 months, was evaluated in detail by a special jury, and 250 young talents who were eligible to participate in the auditions competed with each other for their dreams. After the organization in which Engin Atsur, the successful playmaker of the National Team and Beşiktaş, was together with the young people, the scout reports and evaluations created for the talented players will be forwarded to all NCAA teams.
Meanwhile, the UBA Elite Team, which will be composed of talented players from the Istanbul leg of the NCAA drafts, will be held in Orlando, USA, between June 30 and July 20, and will be held in the Amateur Athletic Union (One of the biggest summer leagues in the USA).www.aausports.org) will have the chance to participate in the tournament. UBA Elite Team will directly take part in this tournament, where American teams can gain the right to participate by passing the qualifiers. During these tournaments to be held in Orlando in July, Downey Christian, West Oaks and Christian Preparatory high schools will be visited and young people will have the opportunity to train with the coaches there. A similar program will also be implemented at the University of Central Florida Orlando (Knights) and the University of Tampa (Spartans), two of the NCAA colleges, and students who are deemed qualified will have the chance to win a scholarship in the USA.
Within the scope of the program, important points such as The National Basketball Academy (Orlando Magic), The First Academy (Orlando Christian Private School), Walt Disney World, Walt Disney World Resort and Orlando Science Center will also be visited.
