NCAA SELECTIONS WERE HELD IN BORNOVA
The NCAA (American College Sports Association) selections were held for the first time in Izmir, at the Altındağ Atatürk Sports Complex, hosted by Bornova Municipality. Bornova Mayor Olgun Atila said that it is extremely important to host a strong brand like NCAA in the Complex, which they recently opened. It was a special pride for Berk Karadan from Bornova Belediyespor to be invited by two universities in the USA.
Altındağ Atatürk Sports Complex, which was recently opened by Bornova Municipality with the contributions of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, hosted the NCAA (American College Sports Association) selections after the Turkish Young Men's Basketball Championship. In the organization held for the first time in Izmir, a total of 75 athletes between the ages of 15 and 21, including 15 girls and 60 boys, were watched by famous coaches, and their two-day performances were noted one by one. Following the evaluations to be made during the week, families will be contacted and players who meet the criteria will be provided with a basketball scholarship to study in the USA in the new term and participate in the NCAA organization.
Bornova Mayor Olgun Atila also watched the NCAA Showcase Izmir 2016 selections. He chatted a lot with the young athletes participating in this important organization and wished them success. President Atila said, "It is extremely important to host an international organization, a strong brand like the NCAA. Contributing to the development of our talented young people in terms of both education and basketball is among our primary goals."
Berk Karadan became our pride
Stating that it was a special pride for them that Berk Karadan from Bornova Belediyespor was invited by two universities in the USA, Mayor Atila said, "I hope that after the auditions here, many more of our young people will go abroad and represent our country. As Bornova Municipality, we will continue to work with all our strength to serve sports and athletes."
