ANOTHER NCAA APPROVED SHOWCASE EXCITEMENT EXPERIENCED IN ISTANBUL
Dozens of young basketball players from different provinces participated in Istanbul Showcase 2017, Turkey's only NCAA-approved draft.
Istanbul Showcase 2017, organized by UBA International, hosted by Feyziye Mektepleri Foundation Private Ayazağa Işık High School Sports Hall, was held on 29-30 April, under the supervision of many important basketball coaches and player observers from both Turkey and the USA.
While the fourth organization of UBA International, which has brought the excitement of NCAA to young basketball players with the showcases it has organized three times in Istanbul and Izmir since 2015, attracted great attention, it also had surprise visitors. Deniz Kılıçlı, who played in the NCAA at the beginning of his basketball career and currently plays for Istanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor in the Spor Toto Basketball Super League, met with the young basketball players participating in Istanbul Showcase 2017 on the second day of the draft and shared his experiences with them. Jerry Johnson, an American guard from the NCAA, who previously played for Galatasaray and currently plays for Demir İnşaat Büyükçekmece, one of the Super League teams, also took part in Istanbul Showcase 2017 and gave advice to young basketball players.
In addition to professional players, master basketball commentator İhsan Bayülken, one of the leading names of Turkish basketball, former player and coach, was among the visitors of the second day of the organization. In addition, Turkey's leading sports channel NTV Spor received the opinions of Deniz Kılıçlı and General Coordinator Orçun Topçu at Istanbul Showcase 2017.
The matches played by Istanbul Showcase 2017 participants over two days were recorded and detailed video footage was prepared for coaches and observers in the USA to watch. Young basketball players had the opportunity to showcase their talents through UBA International, which organized the only NCAA-approved tryouts in Turkey for two days. Athletes between the ages of 14 and 21 competed with each other to win scholarships in the USA and continue their basketball careers and education abroad.
FOLLOWED BY IMPORTANT COACHES
As in previous years, many important coaches and observers took part in Istanbul Turkey Showcase 2017. Important names such as the doyen name İsmail Beleş, who has been coaching at the Spor Toto Basketball Super League and TBL level for years, Kosovo Basketball Federation Super League Responsible Leart Hoxca, Mamak Belediye Ankara DSI Coach Göktuğ Dilbazer, one of the TBL teams, İzmir Tofaş Sports Club Coach Doğuş Bilgiç, and Individual development coach Efe Değirmencioğlu followed the athletes closely during the organization.
