The NCAA Approved Basketball Draft, which gives basketball players between the ages of 13-21 the opportunity to receive sports scholarships from high schools and universities in the USA, was held on April 27-28.
Dozens of young basketball players from many different cities of the country participated in the eighth draft held by UBA International, which organizes the draft in Turkey with the official approval of the NCAA. At the Istanbul Showcase hosted by Maltepe University, participants had the opportunity to showcase their skills in the matches played over two days, and there were also participants from Egypt, Serbia and the Netherlands.
FOLLOWED BY EXPERIENCED DOMESTIC AND FOREIGN COACHES
Video recordings of the matches played at Istanbul Showcase 2019 were taken so that high school and university officials in America could watch them. There were also experienced local and foreign coaches who preferred to watch the tryouts on site.
Following the selection events called "Showcase" held in Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara, Germany and Kosovo in recent years, many young athletes took important steps in terms of both their basketball careers and educational lives with the scholarships they received from the USA.
After the UBA International Istanbul Showcase, US schools will open their doors to many Turkish athletes with scholarships.
THERE IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR YOUNG ATHLETES TO CONTINUE THEIR EDUCATION AND CAREER IN THE USA
According to the rules of the NCAA, the player screening period for university teams outside the USA is limited to nine days, twice each year. Player screening, which has been concentrated in different countries in Europe until now, has now become permanent in Turkey, thanks to the work of UBA International. Therefore, athletes who prove themselves in these selections can have the chance to continue both their sports careers and education life together and learn a foreign language with a basketball scholarship in high schools or universities in the USA.
